Monroe Officer Steve Dunn participates in Police Unity Tour

Monroe Police Officer Steve Dunn, a member of the department’s bike patrol, will be riding this year in the Police Unity Tour. This is a group of police officers who will be riding their bicycles from East Hanover, N.J., beginning on May 9 and ending their ride at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. on May 12. PO Dunn is riding in honor of Officer Jason Conklin, a Tuxedo Park Police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 1997 as a result of a traffic accident. Jason Conklin is the brother of Monroe Detective David Conklin. The Unity Tour, which is a ride of approximately 240 miles, will be done by more than 1,000 officers from around the country. The purpose of this tour is to raise awareness about the number of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty each year. We would like to thank the following people and businesses for supporting Officer Dunn’s ride this year: Planet Pizza in Monroe, Flowers by David Anthony in Monroe, Harriman Army/Navy, Mobil on the Run in Monroe, Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush Funeral Home in Monroe, Dwyer/Leavenworth Construction, Barbara and Stephen Dunn, James and Ronni Oxley and Plaza Optical in Monroe.
