for customer discounts Monroe - The Monroe Free Library is inviting businesses to partner with it for the annual Real Card promotion this September. Under the terms of the promotion, any customer who shows a library card at the sales counter receives a “special,” which is whatever discount or giveaway the business wants to offer. Typical specials in the past have included 10 percent off of orders or free drink or dessert with a meal. In turn, the library produces all promotional materials, including signage (at the library and at point of purchase) and a printed guide to businesses honoring the card. September is Library Card sign-up month; the event is intended to garner new sign-ups and to make existing patrons aware of the card in their wallet, while driving business to local merchants. Businesses interested to participate can contact Ian Murphy at 845-783-4411 or at realcard@monroefreelibrary.org.
