MONROE-The Town of Monroe Republican Committee has unanimously endorsed Mary Ellen Beams to run for the position of Monroe town clerk, according to a press release from town GOP Chairman Donald Weeks. Former Town Clerk Judith Dise has retired after holding that office for twenty-five years. Beams has worked beside her in the town clerk's office for the past few years. "Mary Ellen has proved to be an asset to our town government," said Weeks, "and she has had the invaluable experience of working next to Judy over the past years, so that the her transition into the position of town clerk would be seamless. No one else out there possesses the knowledge and experience that Mary Ellen has in the town clerk's office." The town Republican endorsed slate of candidates include Sandy Leonard for re-election as town supervisor, Weeks and Peter Martin for re-election as town board members and Jack Rosenthal for re-election as town justice.
