Monroe Free Library announces its July schedule of events
MONROE n July is filled with exciting events for all ages at the Monroe Free Library. Here is a sampling of upcoming events: FAMILY CHALK NIGHT - 6-8 pm Thursday, July 8. Exercise your creativity as a family while beautifying the pavement around the library. The Second Annual Family Chalk Night continues the tradition popular for all ages. YOGA CLASS - 7:30-9:00 pm. Monday, July 12, and Tuesday, July 20. Stretch, relax and enjoy the serenity of the library in our yoga class for ages 18 years and up. Taught by Laura Franklin. Bring a mat or a towel and wear comfortable clothing. WALK-IN PRE-SCHOOL STORYTIMES n Tuesdays, July 13, 20, 27 and Thursdays, July 15, 22, 29. Books, stories, puzzles, music and more for children ages two to four years old. Winds up with the annual Cupcake Party. Storytime for two year olds is from 10:30-11:00. Parent stays in the room and participates. Storytime for three and four year olds is from 11:15-11:45. Parent remains in the library. SUMMER CRAFTS n Wednesdays July 14, 21, 28 & Thursdays July 15, 22, 29. Samples of crafts can be seen in the library display case. AFRICAN DRUMMER & STORYTELLER - 6:15 - 7:30 pm, Friday, July 16. Join Nigerian drummer and storyteller Kofi for an evening of pulsating excitement and a thumping good time. Enjoy traditional African folktales with the accompaniment of hand made drums. Registration begins July 5. HAUNTED HUDSON VALLEY - Monday, July 19, 8-9:00 pm - Grades 6-12. Shiver with the true ghost tales of our area presented by Linda Zimmerman, a real NYC Ghostbuster. Registration begins July 5. ROBERT ROGER'S PUPPET COMPANY - Wednesday, July 21, 1:00pm - Grades Kindergarten & up. "The Legend of Pecos Bill", a thrilling traditional American cowboy tale. PREMIER PSYCHICS - Monday, July 26, 7:30-8:30pm - Grades 6-12. A special night for teens of amazing feats of mindreading. Presented by the Aldens. Registration begins July 12. MUSICAL MUNCHKINS n Friday, July 30. A taste of the musical arts in a parent/child participation program for preschoolers. Registration July 12. Ages 12 months to 24 months - 10:00-10:30 am.; Ages 2-3 years - 10:45-11:15; Ages 3-4 years - 11:45-12:15.
