Monroe dentist contributes to McQuade's effort
New Windsor - Dr. Lawrence Gilbert of Hudson Valley Dental Care in Monroe and Dr. Thomas Stein of Cornwall raised $7,700 McQuade Children’s Services by volunteering their time over four months to perform tooth whitening for their patients. Their “Smiles for Life Foundation” gift to McQuade a local multi-faceted program for special needs children represents only half of the funds they raised. The other half was donated to the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation and will be distributed by them to charities across the nation. “This sizeable donation will help us complete renovation projects at the historic Chadeayne residence on Angola Road in Cornwall that 10 teenage girls call home’ while in our care,” said McQuade Executive Director Richard Walker. McQuade helps 1,000 Hudson Valley children a year by providing outpatient counseling to foster children, to families at risk of child abuse, and to teens having difficulty in school or community, plus provides intensive “live-in” programs for kids such as group homes, therapeutic residential treatment and emergency diagnostic assessment shelters. The private non-profit also operates The Kaplan School for special education.
