CHESTER — The Monroe Chester Sportsmen’s Club was selected by the New York Police Combat Association to host recent 2011 New York State Law Enforcement Pistol Competition Games at its facilities at Gibson Hill Road in Chester. Forty-five officers from local, county, state, and federal agencies traveled from all points of New York, New Jersey and Maryland as well as Border Patrol Agents from Northern Vermont and participated in this year’s competition. The competition was a three day event challenging the best of shooters. The three major events that determine the overall winner are: the bullseye pistol shooting match, followed by the tactical match which combines speed and accuracy and the police pistol combat or PPC-style shooting match. To add to the challenge officers must demonstrate their proficiency with both revolvers and semi automatic pistols.
