Monroe - A woman who called the county’s 911 center Saturday afternoon asking for directions was later arrested for driving while intoxicated. A 911 dispatcher told Monroe Police Saturday that a woman had called the center, not looking to report an emergency, but to ask for telephone numbers. Then the woman abruptly hung up. Monroe officers responded to James Road at 1:20 p.m., where they discovered that Judy M. Goddard, a 58-year-old woman staying at 23 James Road had backed her car out of the driveway in an erratic manner. Police said the car also took out one neighbor’s water meter and the bushes of a house across the street. Witnesses told police she then pulled the car back into the driveway and went in the house. Investigating officers discovered that she was the person who called 911; however, she meant to call 411 for information. Goddard was arrested at the scene and brought to Monroe Police Headquarters where her blood alcohol content was determined to be .20 percent, or more than twice the legal limit. She was released on her own recognizance for a Feb. 7 appearance in Monroe Town Court.
