Central Valley In October, the Helping Hands Club, an outreach of Family and Consumer Sciences at the Monroe-Woodbury Middle School, organized a school supply drive with the help of the entire student body and staff for Hurricane Katrina victims. Middle School advisors collected the supplies, which were packed and labeled, then sent to Park Ridge Elementary School in Baker, La. The UPS Store in Harriman provided a discount for shipping. The Middle School PTA, the Middle School Student Council, and the Helping Hands Club donated money for the postage as well. A total of 30 boxes of school supplies were sent.
