Marine volunteers at women's shelter in Dubai

    HIGHLAND MILLS-Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Christopher M. Burrell, son of Barbara Conway of Highland Mills, took part in a community relations project with fellow marines and sailors during a port visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, while on deployment with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit from Camp Lejeune, N.C. Burrell, a 2001 graduate of Madison High School in Madison, N. J., joined the Marine Corps in 2001. Volunteers worked at City of Hope, a women's shelter in Jumeirah, painting hallways, making repairs, and playing with the children staying at the home. The marine unit is ready to conduct real-world operations including amphibious, helicopter and boat raids, tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel, noncombatant evacuation operations and humanitarian assistance operations.
