Man tells police he wanted beer for the prom

GOSHEN-An 18-year-old Warwick man was arrested early Wednesday morning after a Village of Goshen patrolman saw him running from the property of a beer distributor with a pair of bolt cutters. At about 1:30 a.m., Patrolman Anthony Pitt was checking businesses on Hatfield Lane in Goshen. While he was in the parking lot of Dana Distributors at 52 Hatfield Lane, he saw someone wearing dark clothing and carrying bolt cutters run from the property toward the Comfort Inn. Pitt gave chase and called for help from the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Town of Goshen Police. The suspect, David T. Woglom of 36 Ackerman Road in Warwick, was later apprehended on Hatfield Lane. The suspect's vehicle was located in the rear parking lot of 30 Hatfield Lane. The doors were unlocked and the keys were in the ignition. Woglom told arresting officers that it was prom weekend and that he wanted to get some beer for himself and his friends. He had opened the doors to one delivery truck when the patrol car happened upon him. There was no beer in the truck. Woglom was charged with attempted petty larceny and possession of burglary tools, both misdemeanors, and trespassing, a violation. He was released on appearance ticket to the custody of his father, with a return date to village court
