Make your vote count again'
To the editor: Newly elected John Karl, serving as a trustee for the Village of Monroe, participated in the preparation of his third Village of Monroe budget. He was successful in effecting reductions in the first two in which he had a voice. True, these were modest savings but it did show that the Board of Trustees was no longer a “rubber stamp board.” It demonstrated that the trustees were again focusing in on their fiscal responsibility in establishing the lowest possible tax rate for village residents. Combining these decreases with his attempt to reign-in “health benefit costs” for part-time officials will bring about significant savings in the years ahead. Your vote for John Karl was therefore not wasted, and you can make it count again. Vote for and elect John Karl as mayor of the Village of Monroe and create a Board of Trustees that will have leadership for genuine fiscal responsibility from the top down. Andrew W. Barone Monroe
