M-W's Odyssey of the Mind team is state champ
Central Valley - Cheered on by family, friends and other supporters, a team from Monroe-Woodbury High School took first place in the Tech Transfer (Division III) category of the state Odyssey of the Mind championship on March 18. The team members are seniors Nicole Maggio, Lisa McManus and Jessica Mazzolla; juniors Leighann Cornacchio and Katie Pavlu; sophomore Brian Flannery; and freshman Chris Ovchinnikoff. Their coach is Cathy Ma. As their performance ended, a crowd of supporters including parents, siblings, friends as well as Dr. Sandra Kay, Lucy Ma, Heath Yarmus, Mr. and Mrs.Aldo Fillippone and Joseph Fraioli cheered at their flawless performance. Later that evening, they learned that they scored 162.50 points out of 200 on their long-term competition. At the awards ceremony, high marks earned them the first-place trophy.
