M-W swimmers do well

at Empire State Games Central Valley - Two swimmers from the Monroe Woodbury swim club, the Marlins, had strong performances this summer at the Empire State games. Alex Kral won the silver medal in the men's 100m fly event. Anna Jakubek competed in the women's scholastic 100m breast stroke. Earlier this year other Martins competed on the regional level: • Gregg Byrae, Dalian Treanor and Kevin Walsh went to Long Island in February to swim in the Junior Olympics. • Kevin and Dalian, along with Alex, went to the championship meet in New Jersey where they represented the metropolitan area. Meanwhile, tryouts for the Marlins will be held at the Monroe-Woodbury Middle School pool on Thursday, Sept. 8 and Friday, Sept. 9. Call 782-9447 for more information or visit www.mwmarlins.org.
