Tuxedo - A large crowd gathered earlier this week at the Tuxedo Town Board meeting to witness the presentation of the “Keys to the Town” to Lorraine Eiben, who was honored for 50 years of service to the Tuxedo Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Eiben joined the Ambulance Corps in 1957, the year it was established and celebrated her official 50th anniversary with the organization in December. Eiben “served the Corps in every capacity possible,” said Councilwoman Lisa Spivak, who also is on the board of directors for the Corps. “She was a driver, trained first-responder, emergency medical technician and social committee to name a few of the many hats she has worn.” Eiben is a native of New York City. “She moved to Hillburn after her husband died, and spent eleven years with the Ramapo Ambulance Corps and about one year with the Monroe Ambulance Corps,” said her son, Ed Humenaski, who is also with the Tuxedo Ambulance Corps. “She relocated to Tuxedo and has been with the Tuxedo Ambulance Corps ever since.” Eiben currently lives in an apartment at Elant Senior Housing, which coincidently is located where the old Tuxedo Hospital had been and where she sent and followed up on many patients in her care. In other business, the Town Board hired Jirard Shiloh as a full-time town police officer for the town. Shiloh comes to Tuxedo from the New York City Police department, where he served for five years in the Department of Environmental Protection.
