HIGHLAND MILLS — Woodbury residents can have books from any Woodbury Public Library delivered to their door.
Library Director Jennifer Bradshaw said the library;s Board of Trustees approved the book delivery service two weeks ago.
Since then, the library staff has placed small pamphlet applications for the program throughout the area, including Jay’s Deli, the Woodbury Senior Center and the post offices in Central Valley and Highland Mills. Meals on Wheels drivers also have carried them.
Bradshaw said that such book delivery programs were not unusual and she has delivered books herself for the Goshen Public Library, often delivering books to nursing and private homes.
However, unlike the program in Goshen, the deliveries are made by volunteers who are available four days a week, offering speedy and free service.
To sign up, an applicant needs to be a library-card carrying resident of the Town of Woodbury and needs to fill out a small pamphlet available at any of the above locations.
Those ordering books can have them dropped off at the resident's location or members can arrange to have the book(s) ready for pickup at the library.
The program also allows those ordering books to select specific titles or allow for the library staff to select books from subjects areas or authors of interest.
