What a wonderful way to celebrate this season of giving

Central Valley. Members of Monroe-Woodbury Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) organized a Letters to Santa campaign in conjunction with Macy’s and effectively raising $2,870 for Make-A-Wish.

On Dec. 5 members of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) organized a Letters to Santa campaign in conjunction with Macy’s and The Hudson Valley Chapter of Make-A-Wish.

Students collected a total of 1,435 letters in the large and small cafeterias with the help of Kids Changing the World (KCW) members.

Each letter submitted earned a donation of $2, or a total or $2,870 for Make-A-Wish.

M-W SADD advisor Holly Martucci and two student members of SADD, Julianna Martucci and Reilly Groff, delivered the letters to the Macy’s store at the Galleria Mall in the Town of Wallkill on Macy’s Believe Day, Friday, Dec. 6.

Macy’s store manager, a representative from the Wish House in Tarrytown and a local wish family from Cornwall spoke during a ceremony about the importance of wishes in providing hope to families.

Monroe-Woodbury High School students were mentioned for their contribution to the effort.

During the ceremony, Julianna and Reilly assisted the “wish child” submit the letters written by the students of Monroe-Woodbury High School to a big red mailbox.
