Voter registration deadline approaches

| 20 Sep 2012 | 10:33

Whether you support the republicans or democrats or stand somewhere in between, the time to cast your vote is right around the corner.
This year, in particular, is important as voters will have a say on the presidential election.
If you're not a registered voter, don't fret. There is still time before the deadline.
Pennsylvania's deadline is Oct. 9 followed by New York on Oct. 12 and New Jersey on Oct. 16.
Unlike New York and New Jersey that do not require any identification, Pennsylvania adds an extra layer of red tape as it requires residents to provide a photo identification on Election Day, Nov. 6.

NEW JERSEY

The deadline to register to vote is 21 days prior to election day or Oct. 16 for this year. Each voter must fill out a voter registration form. There are multiple ways to register.
Online/Mail: Visit www.njelections.org/voting-information-voter-registration-forms.html. Print the application, enter the required data and mail it to the Commissioners of Registration office, 83 Spring Street, Suite 304, Newton, N.J. 07860.
In person: Pick up forms from the Division of Elections, the Commissioners of Registration office located at 83 Spring Street, Suite 304 in Newton or from your local municipal clerk. Registration forms are also available at Division of Motor Vehicle offices.
