MONROE Orange County School of Dance of Monroe and Highland Mills is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
What started as a dance school is now a full conservatory offering art classes, theater, private voice and music in addition to all styles of dance. Its faculty of 24 encompasses professionals with national, state and regional recognition and grammy-award winners.
Little Feet Dance Company is the resident company that tours Orange County as part of its commitment to community service. Joanna Markowitz, director, is a former professional New York City dancer/teacher. She started a National Honor Society for Dance Arts and is a member of National Dance Education Organization and National Association of Professional Women. Joanna was awarded SUNY's teacher of the year and SUNY's faculty advisor of the year.
Orange County School of Dance was named Best of Monroe for Dance Instructor and Dance School for five consecutive years by the U.S. Commerce Department.
The school is preparing for its annual Nutcracker/Holiday Show, its first theater production and a special faculty concert.
