Tuxedo STEM Academy visits Anka Precision in Congers

TUXEDO — Students from the George F. Baker STEM Academy went on a field trip on Feb. 27 to Anka Precision located in the Rockland County hamlet of Congers.
This field trip along with others that are similar, promote student exposure to “Real Life” experiences as a result of the STEM training they undergo at the high school.
Anka Precision is a custom manufacturer of tools and dies. Services include custom mold and die building, mold and die repair, precision tooling, CAD/CAM engineering, design and development, CNC milling and turning, grinding, welding, plastic injection molding, ultrasonic assembly, hot stamping and inspection.
The company help designers use machines and processes to develop STEM products and other related items. The firm also designs STEM toys.
"This field trip fits in perfectly to correlate what the students are learning at the STEM Academy and the opportunities that are available should they choose a STEM related pathway during their high school career," Marco Margotta, Tuxedo’s STEM leader, said in the district's press release describing the field trip. "Tuxedo is sincerely appreciative of all the business partners’ willingness to give students these opportunities to explore future careers."
