TUXEDO — Students from the Tuxedo STEM Academy recently visited Vitane Pharmaceuticals, Inc., located in Congers in Rockland County.
Vitane Pharmaceuticals, Inc., is a U.S.-based pharmaceutical company with strong determination to impact quality life to people by offering nutrient based innovative health care products. The global pharmaceutical company specializes in medicine, supplements and vitamins for children, men and women’s health care as well as other quality of life products.
The company, headquartered in Dubai, U.A.E., has entered into manufacturing alliances with leading pharmaceutical manufacturers in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Middle East. Vitane’s combination of worldwide scale and local insight gives the organization a solid platform to grow globally.
"These trips were scheduled for a few reasons," said Tuxedo School District Superintendent Nancy Teed. "The first two was to find places that would show practical application to STEM skills and our STEM Standards of practice (i.e. collaboration, team work, problem solving, systems/systematic approaches as well as the use of the design process to complete a task).
"The final reason was to establish relationships with area businesses to develop a partnership to allow students to job shadow/intern or potentially have these businesses give insight on STEM content and other resources as it pertains to certain STEM courses.,
"Vitane doesn't create the products," Teed said. "They process and package medicine and vitamins along with other health supplements. They have several systems in place to allow for packaging and the distribution of their products to global consumers.
During the visit to Vitane Pharmaceuticals, students from the Tuxedo STEM Academy had the opportunity to see the company's systems and use of design to collect and package the pharmaceutical products.
Prior to the visit, students had to review the business and generate questions that would highlight the processes that are employed at that company.
At the tour, students would look for answers and discussions with site employees to gain a more detailed understanding of how that company integrate STEM concepts into their business.
