MONROE — Pine Tree Elementary School’s Drama Club - comprised of fourth and fifth-grade students - performed “Time Capsules” to three full houses earlier this month.

“Time Capsules” was a musical revue celebrating the Pine Tree’s 50th birthday, and was written by teacher Lynn Brown and co-directed by her and teacher Kristine Reynolds.

The play incorporated music, pop culture, theater and historical moments during the first 50 years of the school’s existence.

Brown said she was inspired to write this play to collaborate with the opening of the school’s 1962 time capsule. When opened last month, it revealed papers and artwork focusing on student reflections of the new school in addition to other paperwork of interest.

Students gave a sneak peak of their performance at last month’s 50th anniversary celebration.
