WARWICK — At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, St. Anthony Community Hospital will host a free National Nutrition Month informational event, “Get Your Plate in Shape,” in the Greenbriar Room at Mount Alverno Center, 20 Grand St. Warwick.

National Nutrition Month celebrates the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. This year’s theme, “Get Your Plate in Shape,” supports the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the United States Department of Agriculture’s new food icon, MyPlate.

On April 11, the Morrison Food Service Management team – Michael Cooper, food service director; Carmela Decker, assistant director and chef; registered dietitian technician Lynn Palmieri; and lead dietitian Janine Killeen – will demonstrate savory, colorful, nutritious and delicious ways to enhance meals through simple steps.

The event, which will include tasting, is designed to help people make better choices on a daily basis.

“I like to call it ‘Meal-O-Matics’,” said Killeen. “That means getting the listener to automatically prepare each plate with color, flavor and a balance of nutrients to enhance their own nutrition at each meal, every day. It’s easy to eat better with a little guidance to empower each of us with self-accountability around our eating habits.”

Seating is limited; reserve a seat by calling 845-987-5197.
