Running for Babies'

CENTRAL VALLEY The first annual M-W Running for Babies 3K Run/Walk to benefit the March of Dimes takes place this Saturday, June 9, because Kaitlin Ferguson would not take no for an answer.
Kaitlin is 14, a freshman at Monroe-Woodbury High School and the daughter of Joe and Grace Ferguson of Highland Mills.
According her father, Kaitlin is going for her Girl Scout Gold Award and proposed having a 3K run to benefit the March of Dimes, which helps children with birth defects and their families.
The proposal was turned down because the community service would not have a permanent affect. Although she has not come up with a new Gold Award proposal yet, Kaitlin remained committed to the notion of Running for Babies.
So she has decided to do it away, Joe Ferguson said in an e-mail exchange with The Photo News. She has setup everything - from securing the facility, donations, doing the design of the shirts, handing out flyers, getting volunteers. Needless to say we are very proud of her.
Essential information The Running for Babies 3K Run/Walk will be held at the Monroe-Woodbury Middle School, 199 Dunderberg Road in Central Valley.
The donation is $20 for runner/walkers $20; $10 for those under 12 years old.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. The race starts at 9 a.m.
