MONROE — The Pine Tree Patriot Club recently held its annual Valentine's Day card campaign and collected more than 500 homemade greetings for troops serving overseas and to local veterans.
The club consists of students affected by deployment and students who are committed to supporting military families.
Club members made posters and promoted this effort to all Pine Tree students, encouraging them to design a personal Valentine's Day greeting to help brighten the day for the men and women in the military.
Some of the cards were sent to Major Scott Christman’s 201st Train Advise Assist Command-East, which includes men and women currently serving in Afghanistan.
Other cards were delivered to Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney’s Valentine’s for Veterans Campaign, which supports local Hudson Valley VA hospitals.
