Orange Regional Medical Group introduces hospitalist program

Orange Regional Medical Group now offers hospitalist services to Orange Regional Medical Center’s inpatients.

Hospitalists are board-certified internists who devote their time to the treatment of hospitalized patients. These physicians see inpatients who have been referred from their primary care doctors, emergency room doctors or other physicians within the hospital. They do not see patients outside of the hospital setting.

“Primary care doctors partner with hospitalists to take care of patients admitted to the hospital,” said Scott Batulis, Greater Hudson Valley Health System president and CEO. “This gives the patient the benefit of being cared for by a physician who is entirely focused on his or her care and safety while hospitalized.”

A patient’s primary care physician and the hospitalist work together. At the time of admission and discharge, the hospitalist provides a detailed report of findings and treatment plans that can be sent to patient’s primary physician. Patients return to the care of their primary care physician after being treated by a hospitalist.

Izabela Nowosielski, M.D., medical director of Orange Regional’s department of hospital medicine and director of quality and clinical effectiveness, said hospitalists are familiar with every department and specialist, and they have the immediate access to test results and treatments.

“Our clinical mission is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based clinical care to Orange Regional hospitalized patients,” she said. “This is the next generation of state-of-the-art patient care.”

ORMG’s hospitalist physicians include Nowosielski, associate medical directors Leroy Cordero Floyd III and Adrian Paraschiev, and Daniela Andreca, Aman Bakshi, Joseph Chavez Carey, Najmi Khan, Cyrus Nensey, Sanjay Nerker, John Park, Neal Patel, Ryan Punsalan and Eugene Rezvin, physicians who work with nurse practitioners Stephanie Adigun and Raquel Castillo-Rodriguez.
