Operation Slumber
| 16 Jun 2015 | 05:03
A group of 60 girls representing 10 troops from the Monroe Girl Scout Service Unit participated in the USS Intrepid Sea, Space and Air Museum's Operation Slumber. The girls toured and explored the ship, rode the simulator, and saw the Shape Shuttle Enterprise, later sleeping on cots on the aircraft carrier's main deck. The USS Intrepid, also known as The Fighting "I," is one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the U.S. Navy. She is the fourth U.S. Navy ship to bear the name.
