Monroe. Museum Village creates GoFundMe page to offset losses due to COVID-19

For nearly 70 years, Museum Village of Old Smith’s Clove has been preserving history for our future generations to relate to. Since we first opened in 1950, it is estimated over 1.6 Million School Children have visited the museum on class trips. We have no doubt inspired many future teachers, historians, archaeologists and many others.

In the past few years, there has been rebirth at the Museum with new events, upgraded buildings and exhibits, increased attendance, increased school attendance and more community involvement.

    Then COVID 19.

School class trips cancelled. Events cancelled. Building and exhibit projects cancelled or postponed.

“We realize we are not alone in navigating this pandemic, and asking for donations is very difficult,” said Michael Sosler, the museum’s executive director. “But history must be preserved. We need to continue to provide the inspiration for our future leaders. We can not be stopped.

“GoFundMe page has been set up for Museum Village,” Sosler added. “We are asking for your help and donation. Give as much, or as little as you can. Become part of our team. Take pride in knowing you helped. We need the support.”
