MONROE — Museum Village will celebrate the grand re-opening of its Farm Tools Building when it opens for the season on Saturday, April 14.

This exhibit, which has been closed, has been redesigned and updated thanks to a grant from the New York State Council of the Arts.

“Farming is certainly an important piece of our history and economy in Orange County,” Michael Sosler, the general manger of Museum Village, said in a press release announcing the opening. “That makes this exhibit a very significant part of the museum. Cynthia Zippo, along with the whole team at the museum, volunteers and staff, has done a great job with this new exhibit showcasing our farm history.”

The museum will have a little ceremony and ribbon cutting at noon. Some refreshments will be served.

In addition to the new farm tools display, there will be some other updated exhibits as well. The Natural History Building has some new showcases – make sure you stop in and see the mastodon – and as a result of the museum’s new partnership with the Orange County Farmers’ Museum, its Farmer’s Wife Exhibit will be newly on display.

“The museum is looking forward to a great first day of the season,” added Sosler. “And we will have many more new surprises for our visitors during the year!”

Museum Village is a living history museum preserving a vast collection of eclectic, 19th century artifacts for educational purposes. Using these artifacts and reproductions, we provide hands-on experiences and exhibits illustrating the transition from a rural to an industrial culture and economy in America, provoking thought and discussion about history.
