CENTRAL VALLEY — Throughout the school year, the Monroe-Woodbury School District’s transportation department recognizes the efforts of its drivers and monitors by selecting buses of the month.

For January, two Middle School buses - #413 and #415 - were singled out for their efforts. As part of the program, each driver is asked to describe his or student passengers.

Bus #413 Bus #413 driver Kenneth Diaz wrote: “My students are polite, considerate and have no problems listening to me when I ask. They are especially responsible when crossing the road to board the bus, when I give the crossing signal. Once on the bus they sit in their seats and remain seated though out the ride and out of the aisle.

“They always follow my directions without complaint. When I ask the girls no to sit in the last two seats I never had to ask them again.

“I honestly have never heard a foul word uttered by any of my students since the beginning of the school year. I’ve never heard a complaint or witnessed any sort of bullying one to another. They always find articles left behind from their fellow students and return them before they can even get off the bus. They seem happy with each others company, even among the different grades.

“I’m able to concentrate on my driving because I don’t have to constantly watch them. I trust them now and they don’t bug me with any antics.

“I’m amazed most days because after they leave the bus and I post trip the bus there is not one piece of trash. I have never seen any writing on the seats or damage.

“Were having a very safe and happy ride every day of the week. I can only thank their parents, teacher and previous bus drivers for making them into such nice people. I know they are deserve to be Bus of the Month to show them some small appreciation for what they do every day,” Thompson concluded.
