Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps hosts ‘Eagle Scout Court of Honor’ for William Boese

MONROE — An “Eagle Scout Court of Honor” was held Saturday, June 9, at the Monroe Volunteer Ambulance building for William P. Boese, whose project was constructing an outdoor patio, seating and planting area for the building.

The work was completed in October 2010; William spent the time between then and now earning additional merit badges he needed to fulfill his Eagle Scout requirements.

The young man began his scouting career in 1999 with Cub Scout Pack 440; six years later he rose to Boy Scout Troop 340, the troop sponsored by VFW Lake Region Memorial Post #8858.

In his legislative resolution commemorating Boese’s accomplishment, state Sen. William J. Larkin Jr. (R-C-Cornwall-on-Hudson) wrote:

Whereas, This outstanding young man has been involved in Scouting for many years, has lived up to Scouting’s ideals and has attained all of the necessary achievements, including completion of a community service project, which was successfully planned, developed and executed; and

Whereas, For his project, William P. Boese first installed a patio behind the Monroe Ambulance building and then landscaped around it, providing members of the Ambulance crew and their families a place to rest and spend time together; and

Whereas, William P. Boese’s perseverance in rising through the ranks to Eagle Scout is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult tasks; his accomplishment will enable him to emerge as a leader, fully equipped to meet the challenges of today’s complex society; and

Whereas, This new Eagle Scout is a credit to his family, his school, his community, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to congratulate and honor William Paul Boese on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.”

About 50 people attended the ceremony and the reception that followed.
