By Claudia Wysocki MONROE — The early spring-like weather has apparently prompted building applicants to start their approval process before the Town of Monroe Planning Board.

Among them are: The Village of Kiryas Joel is looking to expand its existing Dinev Community Center. The center, located on Dinev Road, is located on a site southeast of two water towers.

The center’s expansion will involve partially crossing into the Town of Monroe. However, the plans show only a small portion, the back of the building, that would encroach on Monroe property.

The proposal will need approval from the Monroe property owner and it must conform to the town’s building code.

Construction plans have been submitted by Yityitzchok Tyrnoauer for the construction of a 40 foot by 60 foot bus garage next to the existing Cody Boys School.

The proposed bus garage would be located on Highland Mills Road, and adjacent to the Village of Woodbury’s boundary.

The Cody School is in the Town of Monroe.

Jacob Ferencz is seeking approval for a revised site plan off Larkin Drive for the Sheri Torah Girls temporary school.

The beginning stages for the school ,which is within 500 feet of Route 17/6 and County Route 105, call for 11 trailers to house the students and a lunch trailer.

The Sheri Torah Matzoh factory, on Larkin Drive currently has a permit to bake matzoh one day a year.

Moshe Polatsek requested the factory be allowed to bake two to three months ahead of Passover because of the large volume of matzoh needed for the community.

The Yoga Center of New York, located on Shadowmere Road, is seeking approval to expand its center to include a Panini kitchen.

A three-lot sub-division, off Seven Springs Road and County Route 44, was proposed by Joel Grunhut. Grunhut, president of Upscale Homes, submitted plans for the .86-acre parcel.
