Monroe: Fireworks return July 9, so, too, downtown dining

Let’s try this again.

That’s just how Village of Monroe officials described the rescheduling of the annual fireworks display over the Millponds on Friday, July 9, at 9 p.m.

Bad weather cancelled the fireworks last Friday evening.

And just to be sure, village officials have designated Saturday evening, July 10, as the rain date.

Forecast

Here’s the National Weather Service’s forecast for Friday and Saturday:

Friday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. West wind around 6 mph becoming east in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.

Check the village’s website for any update.

Downtown dining

Downtown dining will also resume this weekend, so come on down and support all local restaurants. You can also swing by any of our local businesses in the Village and get a great meal to go and eat under the sparkle of the fireworks.

The Town of Monroe and the Village of Harriman also are sponsors of the event.
