On Feb. 10, Boy Scouts from Troop 440 and Cub Scouts from Pack 240 celebrated Scout Sunday at a Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe. The Boy Scouts of America annually celebrates its founding based on the program started by Lord Baden Powell in England in 1907. "Scout Sunday" was added to the Scout celebration in the middle 1940s to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to scouting. The Scout Law says that a "Scout is Reverent" and Scouts of all ages promise to do their "Duty to God." These values strengthen youth character in their family, community and faith.
