Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt has officially been endorsed for his race to be the next Congressman for New York’s 18th Congressional District by two Monroe leaders, Orange County Legislator Pete Tuohy and Monroe Town Supervisor Tony Cardone.

“Assemblyman Schmitt is who we need representing us in Washington,” Tuohy said. “ The hyperpartisanship needs to end and Colin Schmitt can be the unifying voice for all of us. I fully support Colin and look forward to having a Congressman who answers the phone for local leaders and delivers results.”

Cardone added: “Despite serving in local office for years I have never met our Congressman. Never spoken with him. That is outrageous. Colin Schmitt doesn’t even represent us right now in the Assembly but he helps solve any and all of the issues we may have. He always goes above and beyond the call of duty. We need him as our Congressman and I know he will always be there for Monroe and our entire district.”

“It is an honor to have the support of Legislator Tuohy and Supervisor Cardone,” Schmitt, a Republican, said. “The Hudson Valley is hungry for real leadership and a member of congress who will listen to their needs. Sean Maloney has been vacant and missing in the district from his role as our congressman. I am grateful for this endorsement from a Town outside of my current role, but a community that I am prepared to represent.”
