MONROE — The Monroe Village Board has appointed Melissa Berke to the position of probationary officer in the Monroe Police Department.
The appointment was made Nov. 20.
Berke began her law enforcement career in 2016, working for the New York State Department of Corrections.
In 2017, Berke began working as an officer with the New York State Park Police.
She will complete a field training program and then will be assigned to patrol.
Administrative Sergeant Anthony Amatetti said the department has 17 officers. Berke replaces an officer who transferred out of the department in May.
