M-W students test their business acumen

CENTRAL VALLEY — Eighteen members of Monroe-Woodbury High School’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America tested their business knowledge during the annual FBLA district meeting in Arlington High School at the beginning of the month.

And they acquitted themselves quite well:

Business calculations: Savannah Swillinger won first place.

Accounting I: Jesse Blumenau placed second and Amy Young placed third.

Business math: Kaleigh Doherty placed second and Vamshi Adimulam placed third.

Sports management: Sameer Kumar placed fourth and Anthony Mastellone placed fifth.

Public speaking I: Akshani Patel placed second.

Public speaking II: Amanda Lubeskie placed third.

Client service performance: Trey Templin placed fourth.

Job interview performance: Ashley Davis won first place.

Basic decision making performance: Vamshi Adimulam placed fourth.

Business communication: Antony Mastellone placed second and Patrick Boyce placed fifth.

Future Business Leaders of America is an American career and technical student organization that promotes an environment in which business oriented students can develop leadership skills and character. In New York State, FBLA is divided into several districts for students to compete on business topics based on their knowledge and business classes they have taken. Monroe-Woodbury is part of District 3N.

The Monroe Woodbury chapter next tests its business at New York State Competition in Rochester on April 10 through 12.
