After being crowned the Anaconda Wood Bat Battle Champions over the Labor Day weekend, the Monroe Woodbury Lightning Travel Baseball Team captured the New York Elite Baseball 5th Annual Wood Bat Splinter Tournament held in Newburgh this past weekend .
The team defeated squads from Honesdale, PA and Wappingers Falls.
The M-W Lightning outscored opponents 39-10 during the two-day event, including two shutouts. The first shutout was a duel effort by pitchers Brendan McEntyre and Ethan Acevedo. In the final game, pitchers AJ Zollo and Kavan Tuttle guided their team to the another shutout and the championship. The M-W Lightning will look to continue their success in the New York Elite baseball fall season.
