M-W junior MacKenzie Ryan earns Pursuit of Excellence award

CENTRAL VALLEY Monroe-Woodbury High School Principal David Bernsley announced this week that junior MacKenzie Ryan will receive the schools Pursuit of Excellence award.
Last year MacKenzie participated in a Relay for Life cancer walk sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
She was so deeply moved by her experience that she decided she wanted to make a difference and bring Relay for Life to the Monroe-Woodbury community to raise awareness about cancer, Bernsley said in the press release announcing the award. She reached out to the American Cancer Society last summer and has worked endlessly throughout this year on this cause.
MacKenzie is a remarkable young woman who poured her heart and soul into creating the first high school Relay for Life in Orange County, putting Monroe-Woodbury High School on the map, the principal added. It was through her countless hours of constant dedication and perseverance that she helped raise over $16,000 in donations from the community. She has been an inspiration to those around her and she truly embodies what excellence is all about here at Monroe-Woodbury High School.
It is indeed an honor to present the Pursuit of Excellence to her, Bernsley concluded.
