— Monroe-Woodbury High School senior Vamshi Adimulam is the executive vice president for the New York State Future Business Leaders Association.

This summer Adimulam attended the FBLA's state officer training at Christ the King Spiritual Center in Greenwich.

From July 20 to July 25, Adimulam worked with his fellow officers to create a Program of Work to help guide the state organization.

During these five days, the state officers team selected the American Red Cross as the organization's state charity and chose "Spark Your Success" as their state theme.

During the training week, Adimulam also led a workshop on how to conduct fall and spring district meetings.

The 2014-15 Program of Work has been revamped and will help all state FBLA members in succeeding in leadership, business education and presentation, Adimulam wrote in the press release detailing the training program and its results.

Competing for national awards
The Program of Work has four main committees and two officer challenges. The four committees are Community Outreach, Career Development, Promotion and Design, and Recruitment and Retention.

Adimulam said he wanted to challenge the state in completing the rigorous business achievement awards on the national level.

Each committee created competitions to increase FBLA's impact on not only the members themselves but on the community as well. More information about each committee is available on nysfbla.org.

Background
The Future Business Leaders began in New York State in 1946 when Dobbs Ferry High School was chartered as the first chapter in the state.

Eighteen years later, on April 15, 1964, New York State was chartered as the thirty-fifth state association of the Future Business Leaders of America.

Membership in this division is open to students in grades 9-12, enrolled in a business or business- related course, who accept the purpose of FBLA, subscribe to its creed, demonstrate willingness to contribute to meaningful school-community relations, and possess qualities for employment.

NYS FBLA currently has more than 125 chapters statewide with more than 4,000 members.

Local outreach
The Monroe-Woodbury High School FBLA chapter is happy to accept any students into FBLA to help nurture them into powerful leaders in the future. Contact Adimulam at evp@nysfbla.org or FBLA advisor Jacqueline Palkaunieks in the high school.

Adimulam also can assist other high schools interested in creating their own FBLA chapters.
