Lions Club to host youth Fishing derby
Monroe. The event is set for June 28 for ages 5 to 12.
The Monroe Lions Club Community Youth Fishing Derby is set to take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 28 at Millpond Parkway, across from the movie theater.
This free catch and release event includes prizes and coffee, hot chocolate and donuts from Beck’s Hardware of Monroe. Youth/parent must be present at the end of the derby to collect any prizes.
Registration will take place from 8:15 to 8:55 a.m. and a clinic will be held from 8:30 to 8:45 a.m.
The rain date is Sunday, June 29 – same place and time. Interested participants and volunteers should email jomcelroy88@hotmail.com.
Age categories are 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12. Participants need to be accompanied by an adult/parent over 18. Only one rod per participant and bait worms only. A fishing license is not required. Bookworms provided by Monroe Free Library.
