By Geri Corey GOSHEN — With a burglary recently committed in Hambletonian Park, crime has once again surfaced in the Town of Goshen.

This latest crime took place on Thursday, March 29, while the homeowner was at work and the children at school.

Sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. an unknown suspect or suspects entered 2 Good Time Court and took a laptop computer, two guitars, an X-Box, about $100 in cash, and quite a bit of jewelry.

“The value of the thefts total well into the grand larceny range,” said Sgt. Allen Faust of the Goshen Town Police.

Crime scene technicians from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department did their work at the scene and the town police are waiting for their findings. Investigator Harry Owen will follow all leads.

In a separate incident at Orange Ulster BOCES, an 18-year-old male was arrested.

According to Sgt. Faust, during the school day, the student made allegations that he wanted to join the Pakistani army and blow up Americans. Later he was kicked off the school bus, and allegedly said he was coming back to school to set it on fire.

He was arrested on Friday, March 30, and charged with making terrorist threats, a felony.

“We have to take it seriously when comments like these are made,” said Sgt. Faust. “Police action is definitely called for.”

The student, who is from Otisville, was arraigned by Justice Thomas Cione and released to his mother.
