GOSHEN — Elant, the provider of senior health and housing solutions in the Hudson Valley, has announced that Jodie Yankanin has been appointed to the Elant Choice Board of Directors.

Elant Choice, an affiliate of Elant with its own Board of Directors, is a managed long-term care plan for eligible adults at least 18 years old that provides health and long-term care services to help clients remain in their homes for as long as possible, delaying or preventing placement in a nursing home.

Yankanin has worked in health care for 38 years. She has a wide range of experience in both nursing and education as an instructor and supervisor, and currently serves as the director of career and technical education and adult practical nurse programs at Orange-Ulster Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES).

In her current role, Yankanin leads instruction and all activities related to career and technical education for Orange-Ulster BOCES. She supervises all administrators, staff members and students while implementing the curricula and developing the organization’s long-range plans. One of her key roles is acting as a liaison to school districts, colleges and technical schools, as well as community organizations, businesses and industry partners and the New York State Education Department.

Earlier in her career, Yankanin was the principal of special education at Raymond C. Cramer Elementary School, responsible for supervising employees and providing leadership in curriculum development and implementation. Prior to her role at Raymond C. Cramer Elementary, she worked as a nurse for 18 years.

“Jodie’s diverse background as a nurse, educator and administrator will prove invaluable to our organization,” said Donna Cornell, Chair of the Elant Inc. Board of Directors. “Her many connections to New York’s school system and experience in health care will be tremendous assets as we look to grow our programs and services at Elant Choice.”

Yankanin has a CAS in educational administration and supervision and an MS in education administration from SUNY New Paltz. She also holds a BS in education from Empire State College and is an AAS Registered Professional Nurse.
