It's 'all about community'

— During the 20 year stewardship of owner Frank Truitt, WTBQ (1110 AM/93.5 FM) Radio has been collecting unwrapped toys and donating them to various organizations every year.

And this year is no exception.
On Monday, Dec. 15, Truitt, Station Manager Taylor Sterling, and Frank "Uncle Buck" Pileggi, co-host of the Thursday "Frank Truitt Morning Show," presented a carload of toys to Pete and Laura Rollins, co-founders of Goshen Chapter 212, Disabled American Veterans.

The Rollins are both past commanders in the organization, which was founded on the principle that this nation's first duty to veterans is the rehabilitation and welfare of its wartime disabled.

The carload of toys, collected by "Uncle Buck" from WTBQ listeners, was being presented for the children of disabled veterans and other needy families in this area.

Supporting local organizations
Pileggi of Chester, a former police officer, Army veteran and member of the Monroe Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 1167, has a long history of fund raising.

He frequently conducts food and toy drives for local children and military families and uses his popularity with the WTBQ listeners to help him succeed in these causes.

"The main reason WTBQ is the number one community radio station in Orange County," said Sterling, "is due to the fact that the station is all about community and giving back. WTBQ is the only place to learn, and share all your community events and happenings and we are proud to support many local charities and organizations."

Acts of kindness
Truitt and Sterling are both Rotarians, as well as board members of Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center and the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce.

"We remind everyone to do a random act of kindness all year long," said Sterling, "and we wish the entire community a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday and a Peaceful and Healthy New Year."
