In memoriam MONROE. The Monroe Improvement Association plants trees in Crank Park to honor Jeffrey Rosenfeld and Burt Hunter.

The Monroe Improvement Association honored two deceased members of its board on Saturday, May 18, in Crane Park.
Two trees were planted in the memory of Jeffrey Rosenfeld, a 26-year member of the board, and of Burt Hunter, a 20-year member.
The association donated two Linden trees which were planted by the Village of Monroe Public Works Department.
James Rogers, president of the Monroe Improvement Association, spoke of the contributions Rosenfeld and Hunter made to the association and to the community.
Those attending included Mayor Neil Dwyer, family members, friends and board members.
The Monroe Improvement Association was founded in 1921 by a group of citizens with the sole purpose of buying land around the Mill Pond, removing buildings and landscaping to create Crane Park.
The park was then donated to the Village of Monroe.
The Monroe Improvement Association continues as an advisory board on matters of the park and continues to make donations to its betterment.
