The ceremony ended in candle light.
As they have every Sept. 11 for the last 17 years, people from across Monroe and other nearby place came to the village pavilion on Route 17M to remember.
In his invitation to the public to participate in this Service of Remembrance, Mayor Neil Dwyer wrote: "We remember the powerful and resilient spirit of those who are no longer with us, and by our attention here this evening we pledge that they will never be forgotten God Bless this nation and our way of life.
