Although the day was a celebration of Liederkranz, Velveeta and many things fromage, Saturday's Cheese Festival in Monroe also offered a multitude of choices for the hungry and and the simply curious.

Samples anyone?
By most measures, Saturday’s annual Cheese Festival was a success. Downtown Monroe was crowded with festival-goers of all ages. Entertainment included young people dancing and demonstrating their athletic abilities. Community groups had a chance to tell people how their help and contributions make a difference. The one drawback was the cancellation of the 2012 Monroe Idol Competition due to severe weather. But festival organizers say the popular competition will be held at Smith Clove Park very soon. What else can be said other than it was a “cheesetastic day.”
