For the love of history, cheese and community

By most measures, Saturday’s annual Cheese Festival was a success. Downtown Monroe was crowded with festival-goers of all ages. Entertainment included young people dancing and demonstrating their athletic abilities. Community groups had a chance to tell people how their help and contributions make a difference. The one drawback was the cancellation of the 2012 Monroe Idol Competition due to severe weather. But festival organizers say the popular competition will be held at Smith Clove Park very soon. What else can be said other than it was a “cheesetastic day.”
