Graduations
Daniel Muller of Monroe graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Susquehanna University in Selinsgove, Pa.

Muller is a 2011 graduate of Monroe Woodbury High School and the son of Allen and Betty Muller.

Tricia Gunther of Monroe graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife and Conservation Biology from the University of New Hampshire in Durham.

Students who received the honor of Magna Cum Laude graduated with a GPA of 3.50-3.69.


The following students have graduated from SUNY Fredonia:

Ryan M. Creamer of Monroe with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance.

Kerry M. Haugh of Monroe with a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology.


Luke Garnet of Monroe has graduated from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont.


Lisa Morgillo of Monroe has graduated from Hofstra Law School.

She is daughter of Mike and the late Christine Morgillo. She is pursuing a career in criminal law.


The following students have graduation from the State University of New York at Potsdam:

Kendra Doering of Monroe, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Derek Dravants of Highland Mills, who graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Archaeological Studies.

Michael Shea of Highland Mills, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

Andres Vahos of Monroe, who graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education.

President’s list
The following students from New York have been named to the President’s List for the spring 2015 semester at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester.

Bryan Batewell of Highland Mills, Business Studies in Operations and Project Management

Neil Galvin of Highland Mills, Justice Studies.

To be eligible for this honor, a student must compile an academic grade point average of 3.7-4.0.

Dean’s list
Jessica Prendergast of Central Valley has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2015 semester at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont.

Students who are named to the Dean’s List have achieved a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Prendergast is majoring in Early Childhood/Elementary Education.

Katie Bompensiero, class of 2018, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at SUNY New Paltz with a GPA of a 3.93.


Jaclyn Prendergast of Highland Mills made the Dean’s List for Siena College. Prendergast just finished her second year at Siena and will be traveling abroad to University County Cork in Ireland for her fall semester.

Honors, awards, programs
Adrianne S. Lunau of Highland Mills was honored at SUNY Oswego’s recent Honors Convocation. She received the Helen B. Daly Award for Excellence in Research..

Lunau is a senior studying psychology at Oswego. She is a member of the Mentor-Scholar Program and First Year Peer Advisors. Her future plans are to pursue a master’s degree in social work at the University at Buffalo. She is the daughter of Joseph and Elyse Lunau of Highland Mills.

The formal ceremony, complete with a procession of faculty and college officers in full academic regalia, is sponsored each spring at Oswego by Vega, the women’s honor society.


The SUNY Oneonta athletics department recently held its annual awards ceremony and honored its student athletes. Among them were:

Brynn Sussman of Highland Mills.

Dylan Williams of Monroe.

Matthew Cifone of Monroe was among the 26 University of Scranton students inducted into Phi Lambda Upsilon, the national honorary chemical society. The honor society accepts students with 24 credits in chemistry and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The University’s chapter of the honor society was established in 1975.

Cifone is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences at the Jesuit university.

Tara Ashley Fragiacomo of Harriman has been inducted into the LIM College chapter of the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business.

Delta Mu Delta recognizes and encourages academic excellence of students at qualifying colleges and universities to create a community that fosters the well-being of its individual members and the business community through lifetime membership.

Undergraduate junior and senior students who are currently in the top 20 percent of their class and who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and graduate students who are in the top 20 percent of their class and have a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or higher are eligible for membership in the LIM College chapter of Delta Mu Delta.

LIM College is an independent, private college located in New York City. It focuses exclusively on the study of business and fashion.

Michael Hodges of Highland Mills has completed Silver Level requirements in SUNY Oneonta’s Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) program.

LEAD@Oneonta is a comprehensive leadership program based on current research and guidelines from the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education. All students can choose to participate in the LEAD program, which aims to better prepare them for life after college by providing a comprehensive picture of leadership and the skills needed to be a good leader.

Completion of a leadership level is recognized on campus as a credential that can be used, for example, when running for office or applying for STEP (Student Travel for Excellence Program) funding. The program also provides students with a leadership record that can be submitted to potential employers.
