Graduations
Danielle Alifano of Monroe has graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dean College in Franklin, Mass. She has been on the Dean’s List every semester of her college career.Alifano was a dance major and hopes to continue a career in dance.
Nicole L. Sottilar has graduated from SUNY Fredonia with Bachelor of Science degree in Math - Adolescence Education.
Nicolas Tyberius Nieves of Washingtonville has graduated with High Honors from Stevens Institute Of Technology in Hoboken N.J., with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree. He will be pursuing his master’s degree.
Nieves is a member of Chi Epsilon Civil Honor Society and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. He is a graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, CTEC BOCES and the National Technical Honor Society.
He is employed as a consultant for KPFF Consulting Engineers in Manhattan.
He is the son of Donna Sue and Anthony Cioffi, grandson of Sven and Joan Bohling and nephew of Jeff Bohling.
Zachary Lipsky of Highland Mills was awarded a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering with high distinction during commencement ceremonies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.
Scott McWatters has graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) receiving his Bachelor of Science degree Magna cum Laude. In the Mechanical Engineering school he placed in the top 10% of his class. Scott is a member of the national engineering honor society, Tau Beta Pi. He is a graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School. He is the son of Lynn and Dennis McWatters.
Haylea Dellolio of Monroe has graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
Amanda Schuepfer has graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Thomas Aquinas College with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.
She has been accepted to Hunter College School of Education’s literacy education graduate program in New York City and will begin in the fall. She will also be teaching full time at a New York City charter school.
Rebecca Vitelli of Monroe, a Phi Kappa Phi national fellowship winner, has received a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Delaware, specializing in autism and students with disabilities.
She has accepted a teaching position from the John G. Leach School in New Castle, Delaware, and will begin her new career this September.
Jennifer M. Queenan of Highland Mills earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in nursing from The University of Scranton.
Matthew J. Endrizzi of Monroe received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam. He also received the DDS Companies-sponsored scholarship, John J. Bero Sr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship and the Cala Family Endowed Scholarship during the 2015-2016 academic year.
President’s List
Several local students were recently named to the President’s List for the spring 2016 term at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy. Those recognized include:Clive Ricketts of Highland Mills, who is in the non-matriculated academic program.
Brendan Flynn of Monroe, who is studying in the mortuary science academic program.
The college’s President’s List honors those students who have a term grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0.
James Matthew Hoyt of Monroe, a freshman majoring in mechanical engineering, was named a Presidential Scholar for the spring 2016 semester at Clarkson University in Potsdam.
Presidential Scholars must achieve a minimum 3.80 grade-point average and carry at least 14 credit hours.
Jessica Simon of Chester has been named to the Dean’s List of Distinguished Students with a 4.0 GPA for the spring 2016 semester at the University of Albany.
Simon is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Philosophy. She is on the executive board of the Green Party Society, is a founding member and vice president of To Write Love on Your Arms and a member of ABLE (Albany Business Leaders Emerging).
The following students were named the President’s List for spring 2016 for at SUNY Oswego for earning grade point averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale:
Emily M. Casazza of Highland Mills, a junior majoring in adolescence education.
Kevin Mahon of Monroe, a junior majoring in childhood education.
Kristin M. Mayer of Monroe, a senior majoring in communication and social interaction.
Brandon M. Naman of Monroe, a sophomore majoring in public justice.
Candice M. Ribiere of Monroe, a senior majoring in studio art.
Dean’s list
Lindsey Morgan Pugh of Central Valley has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2016 semester at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.Students who earn dean’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899.
Pugh is scheduled to graduate in 2016 and is majoring in theatre and dance.
Ryan Kryzak of Monroe was recently named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2016 term at Hudson Valley Community College.
To qualify, students must earn a term grade point average between 3.0 and 3.5.
Kryzak is in the electrical construction and maintenance academic program at the Troy college.
Monroe resident Anthony M. Siciliano, a member of the Class of 2017, has been named to the spring 2016 Dean’s List at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.
Siciliano is majoring in Computer Science.
To qualify, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.
Emily Ampel of Monroe received a prestigious award at Quinnipiac University’s 85th undergraduate Commencement exercises.
Ampel received the Occupational Therapy Leadership Award from the School of Health Sciences. The award is presented from the faculty to a graduating senior who has shown outstanding leadership in academic work, laboratory performance and initiatives within the department.

To be included on the Dean’s List, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average.
