Dean’s List
The following students were named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2016 semester at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy:James Hanuman of Tuxedo, who studies Electrical Engineering.
Zachary Sikorski of Monroe, who studies Mechanical Engineering.
The Dean’s List recognizes full-time students who maintain grade-point averages of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below “C.”
Deirdra O’Boyle, sophomore at SUNY Oswego, received an academic excellence award by making the Dean’s List for the spring semester of 2016.
She is the daughter of Patricia Keegan and John O’Boyle of Monroe.

,Full-time students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester grade-point average of at least 3.5 with no grades of D, F, Incomplete or Pass/Fail are eligible for the Dean’s List.
Tabatha Castro, a psychology major from Monroe, has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2016 semester at Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass., for achieving a GPA of 3.33 or higher.
Honors, awards, programs
The New York State School Facilities Association announced Julia Frees, an incoming freshman at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn., as a winner of the Fred Hack Memorial Scholarship.Frees, a graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, is planning to major in biology. In high school, she was in the top six percent of her class and a member of the National Honor Society, the Italian Honor Society and the Wind Ensemble. She served as secretary of the Interact Club and a member of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Frees earned the Most Improved Player award for field events and won the scholar athlete award each year in high school.
She volunteers as a teacher’s assistant for her church’s Vacation Bible School and as a junior guide in the Storm King Adventure Tours children’s kayaking program.
She is the daughter of James and Claudia Frees of Harriman. Her father is the director of facilities for the Chester Union Free School District.
Evan Froehlich, a 2011 Monroe -Woodbury graduate, has just passed his fourth and final CPA exam. Froehlich attended Rutgers University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in May 2015 with a major in Accounting and minor in Economics.
In December 2015, Froehlich graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University with a Master’s degree in Financial Accounting.
This coming September he will start his career at Ernst & Young in New York City.
He is the son of Rich and Sue Froehlich of Monroe.
