Armed Forces
Rebecca Cuccurullo, the daughter of Juli and Joe Cuccurullo of Monroe, graduated from Recruit Training Command at Naval Station Great Lake in Great Lakes, lll., on June 7 and has earned the rank of Seaman E3.

She will now attend “A” School in Fort Lee, Va., as a culinary specialist.

Cuccurullo is a 2012 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School.


Graduations
Sarah Gilcrist of Monroe received an associate’s degree in applied science in ultrasound sonography from Eastwick College of Ramsey, N.J.


Charles Gilcrist of Monroe received a bachelor’s degree in biology from SUNY Cortland.


Justin R. Accetturi, a 2009 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice. He is the son of Joan and John Accetturi of Monroe.


Alexander W. Laird of Monroe was among the 548 students awarded a degree at St. Lawrence University’s commencement ceremony, held May 19 on campus in upstate Canton. He graduated cum laude and earned honors in mathematics.

Laird is a graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School.


Jeremy F. Heuberger of Chester has graduated with a bachelor of technology degree in architectural technology from the New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn. Jeremy is a 2008 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School.


The following students were awarded degrees during commencement ceremonies last month at Fairfield University in Connecticut:

Kaitlin McDonnell of Highland Mills received a master of arts degree from Fairfield University’s Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions.

Brian Mulvey of Central Valley received a bachelor of science/engineer degree from Fairfield University’s School of Engineering.

Dean’s list

Maureen Mullane of Highland Mills has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 at Marist College in Poughkeepsie. In order to qualify for this special distinction, students must earn a semester grade point average of at least 3.6 having completed a minimum of 12 academic credits semester.

Maureen, a junior, is studying business administration with a concentration in human resources.

The recipients of the 2013 scholarships awarded by the Zeta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional women’s organization, are:

Kristin Lopez of Monroe-Woodbury High School.

Kiersten Knapp of Goshen High School.

Anna Blon of Middletown High School.

The scholarship is awarded to young women who are attending college and pursuing a field of education.

“These deserving candidates have not only done well academically, but have also given back to their schools and communities throughout their high schools years,” the organization said in its press release announcing the awards.

Olaide Adekanbi of Highland Mills was one of 112 students to receive a diploma during the Pomfret School’s 119th commencement last month.

Pomfret is an independent college preparatory boarding and day school for 350 students in grades 9 through 12 from 26 states and 13 foreign countries in Northeastern Connecticut.
